These terms apply to every order placed with MasterMind BCI, by card or by email. The short version: our hardware is built for research and education, not for medical use.

Research use only. Not a medical device. MasterMind BCI products are not cleared, approved or certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any other regulatory body as medical devices. They must not be used to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, mitigate or prevent any disease or medical condition, or to make any clinical decision.
By placing an order, completing checkout, or using any product purchased from MasterMind BCI (“we”, “us”), you (“you”, the “buyer”) agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you are buying on behalf of a university, laboratory or company, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms on its behalf. If you do not agree, do not place an order.
All products — including the BCI-32 board, the 128-channel board, electrodes, gels, caps, cables, programmers and firmware — are sold solely for research, development, prototyping and educational purposes.
References on this website to biosignals, markers or physiological measurements describe research capabilities only and are not health claims.
Recording biosignals from people carries risk if equipment is misused. You are solely responsible for safe use, and you agree to:
Our boards ship with customizable firmware and a programmer so you can change how they work. You may flash, modify and rebuild the firmware for your own research. However, any modification of firmware or hardware is done at your own risk: we are not responsible for damage, data loss, incorrect readings or safety issues caused by modified firmware, altered hardware, or third-party software. We will always help you re-flash a board to the stock firmware.
Boards ship from our workshop; consumables and caps may ship directly from partner warehouses, so a single order can arrive in more than one package. Delivery dates are estimates. Risk of loss passes to you when the carrier delivers the order. International buyers are responsible for customs duties, import taxes and compliance with local import rules. You agree not to export or re-export products in violation of applicable export control or sanctions laws.
BCI boards are covered by a 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal research use. If a covered defect appears, we will repair or replace the board, or refund the purchase price, at our option. The warranty does not cover physical or liquid damage, electrical over-stress, damage caused by modified hardware, normal wear of consumables, or use outside these terms. Accessories and consumables carry a 30-day quality guarantee against manufacturing defects.
Except for the limited warranty above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, products and firmware are provided “as is”, without any other warranty, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of recorded data, or non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MasterMind BCI will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, research results, profits or business, arising from the purchase or use of our products — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to a product will not exceed the amount you paid for that product. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
You agree to indemnify and hold MasterMind BCI harmless from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of products for medical or clinical purposes, your use of products on human or animal subjects, modifications you make to firmware or hardware, or any other breach of these terms.
Firmware source code is provided under the license included with the source tree. All other content on this website — including text, images, renders, logos and designs — remains the property of MasterMind BCI. Buying a product does not transfer ownership of our trademarks or hardware designs.
